''Poet Lore'' is an English-language literary magazine based in Bethesda, Maryland. Established in 1889, ''Poet Lore'' is the oldest continuously published poetry magazine in the United States.〔(''University of Pennsylvania'' online library archives )〕〔(''Encyclopaedia Britannica'' online article )〕 Writer's Center, currently publishes Poet Lore in semi-annual installments, exhibiting poetry both by established writers and by those breaking into print. Over the years they have published the works of John Balaban, Paul Bourget, Anton Chekhov, Chad Davidson, Carolyn Forché, Alice Fulton, Sandra Gilbert, Maxim Gorky, Joseph Harrison, Gerhart Hauptmann, Philip Heldrich, Henrik Ibsen, Sean Mac Falls, Carl Phillips, Lee Scrivner, August Strindberg, Rabindranath Tagore, and Jeff Worley.
